5 Essential Points of Salvation

Understand that you are a sinner.
Romans 3:23 - For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.
Romans 3:10 - As it is written, there is none righteous, no not one.

Understand that the penalty for your sin is eternal death in Hell.
Romans 6:23 - For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Revelation 20:15 - And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

Understand that there is nothing you can do about your sinful condition.
Titus 3:5 - Not by works of righteousness, which we have done: but according to His mercy He saved us...
Ephesians 2:8-9 - For by grace are ye saved through faith: and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Believe that there is something God can do and did do about it - He sent His only Son Jesus Christ to pay the penalty for your sin.
John 3:16 - For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him, should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Believe in Christ's work as the only way to pay the price for your sin.
Acts 16:31 - Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved...
