Pastor Barry Layne's Bio:
Pastor Barry Layne, a Colorado native, became pastor of the Arvada Baptist Church November of 1982. It has been his constant desire to build the Church on solid Bible teaching and preaching. The emphasis of his pulpit ministry is on expository preaching. His burden is twofold: The evangelization of those without Christ and the equipping of believers to live victorious lives in an increasingly difficult world. Pastor Layne holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Pastoral Theology from Baptist Bible College of Denver and a Master of Divinity from Denver Baptist Theological Seminary. He has also begun work on his Doctor of Ministry degree. Pastor Layne is happily married to "the wife of his youth," Sarah. He has two married daughters who reside in Arvada and are active with their husbands and children in the Arvada Baptist Church. Pastor Layne believes the strong Christian family is the key to building a strong Church family. He cordially invites you to come grow with us.
Pastor Dan Lamgo's Bio:
Pastor Dan was born and reared right here in the Denver metro area. Saved at the age of five and baptized when he was seven, Pastor Dan grew up in an active Christian family. While at a summer camp at the age of 15, the Lord placed a special call to the vocational ministry on his life and he surrendered to the Lord's will. After graduating high school from a local Christian school, Pastor Dan went to Faith Baptist Bible College in Ankeny, Iowa to prepare for the ministry. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Pastoral Studies in May of 1998. During his senior year he met, and after graduation, married his wife Kim. The Lord has blessed their family with two children, James and Amy. The family moved back to Colorado in April of 2000 and took the Assistant Pastorate of Arvada Baptist Church in August of 2000. After serving at Arvada Baptist Church for two years, Pastor Lamgo believed that God had truly called and equipped him for the ministry and was subsequently ordained on January 5, 2003.
Pastor Dan believes that the goal of Youth Ministry should be to assist parents in rearing their children "in the nurture and admonition of the Lord" (Eph. 6:4). It is his desire to help parents in this process in any way he can. As a result, Pastor Dan believes that the key to Youth Ministry is longevity. The average Youth Pastor's ministry lasts 9 to 18 months. This "shortness" causes a lot of distrust and misunderstanding in teen's lives and results in an ineffective ministry. Time is an essential element to Youth Ministry and Pastor Dan is here for the long haul.
